This was disclosed by the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, today at the Maitama, Abuja, National Directorate Headquarters during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with New Horizons Systems Solutions Ltd.

According to Ahmed, every effort should be made to provide Corps Members with the knowledge and instruction that would increase their chances of becoming independent and active participants in the development of the national economy.

The Director General continued by saying that one of the goals of his administration is to reduce youth unemployment, and one of the focus areas of his administration is the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program.

General Ahmed urged all Corps members to take advantage of the training opportunity in order to develop their independence and capacity to create jobs.

Earlier, General Ahmed was congratulated on his appointment as the new Director General of the Scheme by Mr. Tom Akano, Managing Director of New Horizons Systems Solutions Ltd.

He complimented the NYSC Management for refocusing the Program to give Corps Members highly relevant digital skills in the industrial space.

According to Akano, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations would cover critical thinking, critical analysis, and the development of the SAED Learning Portal, which would allow Corps Members with vocational training and skills to market their goods globally.

As part of the organization’s contributions to the commemoration of NYSC’s 50th Anniversary, he also pledged to donate 1,000 ICT books.
