European Union Short Film Competition 2025 (₦2,000,000 Million Prize) Apply Now


The Zuma International Film Festival, in partnership with the Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS, is pleased to announce the European Union Short Film Competition 2025.

  • This year’s competition is themed: “Being a Nigerian Youth” - an invitation to creatively capture the realities, aspirations, struggles, resilience, and triumphs of Nigerian youth in today’s world.

What We’re Looking For

Participants are to create a short film (maximum of 3 minutes) that tells a powerful story reflecting the theme. 

  • The film can be narrative, documentary, or experimental in style, but it must be original, authentic, and engaging. 
  • This is your platform to express what it truly means to be a Nigerian youth through your lens.

Awards & Prizes

  • Winners of the competition will receive exciting cash prizes to support their creative journeys:

Winner: ₦1.5 million

First Runner-Up: ₦750,000

Second Runner-Up: ₦500,000

In addition to the cash prizes, winners will gain visibility, networking opportunities, and recognition at the Zuma International Film Festival, one of Nigeria’s leading film festivals.

Eligibility

  • Open to all Nigerian youth between the ages of 20 and 35 years.
  • Entries must be original works created by the applicant(s).
  • Films must not exceed 3 minutes in length.

Important Dates

Deadline for Entries: November 10, 2025

Grand Finale & Award Ceremony: December 3, 2025, at the Zuma Film Festival, Abuja
