Recruitment of 130 Enumerators IRC Northwest Locations
Purpose of the Position
Data is essential for analyzing program performance and monitoring progress toward project goals.
- The IRC seeks young, innovative, creative, self-motivated, and dynamic data enumerators with strong experience in data collection.
Selected candidates will form a pool of enumerators and work with a multidisciplinary team on the Emergency Response Project in Katsina, Batagarawa, and Batsari LGAs of Katsina State.
- Aimed at improving livelihoods, potable water access, hygiene, sanitation, and protection services for internally displaced persons and vulnerable community members.

- Anka LGA - 20 enumerators
- Tsafe LGA - 10 enumerators
- Gusau LGA - 40 enumerators
Responsibilities
Support Program and MEAL teams in data collection during assessments, surveys, monitoring, post-distribution monitoring, registration, and verification exercises.
- Participate in training sessions and debriefs to refine tools and improve data collection techniques.
- Strictly adhere to data collection protocols and guidelines.
- Conduct pre-testing of tools and provide feedback.
- Carry out community entry protocols before beginning activities in each location.
Work with community members, volunteers, and incentive workers to identify eligible respondents, conduct house listing, and lead data collection using paper-based or digital tools.
- Visit households to administer questionnaires, conduct interviews, and record observations accurately.
- Take notes or transcribe interviews and prepare summaries from FGDs and KIIs.
- Ensure collected data meets quality requirements using recommended tools and methods.
- Collect client complaints during surveys and forward appropriately.
- Respond to beneficiary questions respectfully and refer issues to supervisors when needed.
- Report challenges or discrepancies encountered during fieldwork.
- Implement quality control measures, including spot checks and data reviews before uploading.
Participate in debriefing sessions to review outcomes and share insights.
Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors or activity leads.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection guidelines.
- Willingness to travel within Tsafe, Anka, Gusau, Katsina, Batagarawa, and Batsari LGAs.
- Flexibility to work extended hours when required.
- Fluency in English, Hausa, and/or Fulani is highly preferred.
Other Responsibilities
Adhere to data protection and confidentiality policies.
Ensure compliance with IRC performance standards, code of conduct, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), and child safeguarding policies.
- Maintain professionalism and sensitivity to cultural, social, and religious norms.
- Build positive relationships with community members to foster trust.
- Submit daily timesheets showing level of effort.
- Ensure proper handling and secure storage of data collection devices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Diploma or University Degree in any field.
- SSCE holders with strong experience in data collection are encouraged to apply.
Experience
Experience working with community structures in Northwest Nigeria, with an understanding of cultural norms.
Experience using mobile data collection apps (Kobo Toolbox, ODK, CommCare), MS Excel, and MS Word.
- Experience in data or health records management (added advantage).
- Experience working with NGOs in humanitarian settings, particularly in emergency data collection (added advantage).
- Experience using audio recorders or CommCare (added advantage).
- Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures, genders, and backgrounds.
Technical Skills
Basic understanding of data collection methods (surveys, interviews, FGDs).
- Familiarity with mobile data collection tools and Android devices.
- Basic computer skills, especially Excel.
