About the Program
The scholarship is organized by Afro-Tech Girls, a nonprofit focused on increasing participation of African girls and women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
- Through its “Laptops for STEM” initiative, the organization aims to remove one of the biggest barriers facing aspiring women in tech - lack of access to a functional computer.
- Selected beneficiaries will receive laptops that allow them to learn coding, design, data analysis, and other digital skills needed for tech careers.
- Applications are now open for the Afro-Tech Girls Laptop Scholarship 2026, an initiative designed to support female STEM students and graduates who need access to a laptop to pursue careers in technology.
The scholarship provides free laptops to selected women to help them build projects, learn tech skills, and transition into the tech workforce.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected participants will receive:

- The initiative will select about 20 female STEM students or graduates who demonstrate potential and need for the device.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify, applicants should:
- Be female students or graduates in STEM fields
- Be passionate about pursuing a career in technology
- Have interest in areas such as software development, data science, product design, or cybersecurity
- Not currently have access to a functional laptop
- Be an active member of the Afro-Tech Girls community
