- The 2026 theme focuses on Innovations in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Information Communication Technology (ICT), or Digital Technologies for Development.
- The Prize seeks high-impact, innovative, and scalable solutions that deploy digital technologies to address clearly defined development challenges relevant to Nigeria.
- Both research-led innovations and practice-led, field-tested solutions are strongly encouraged.
Eligibility Criteria
The award is open to scientists and innovators worldwide, including Nigerians and non-Nigerians, who are applying science and innovation to develop solutions in AI, ICT, or Digital Technologies for Development.
- Members of the Advisory Board or Panel of Judges, as well as their relatives, are not eligible to enter during their year of service and the following year.
- NLNG staff and their immediate family members are also ineligible during their years of service and for five years post-service.
- Entries must represent completed scientific work or innovative technologies of outstanding merit.
- Submissions should demonstrate advancement in knowledge and/or the development of innovative digital solutions with clear developmental relevance.
- Each entry must be supported by proof of concept or tangible societal impact.
- Only one entry per individual or group is permitted per competition year, and all supporting materials must be submitted within the stipulated timeframe.
Submission Requirements
Entries must clearly demonstrate integration of AI, ICT, or Digital Technologies.
- Submissions should show practical applicability, operational clarity, and evidence of deployment, piloting, or real-world testing.
- Applicants must present measurable or clearly articulated community or societal impact, along with strong potential for scalability, sustainability, and adoption.
Innovations with demonstrable real-world outcomes will receive due consideration.
