Scope of Responsibilities and accountabilities

Performing the tasks of transporting authorized goods and passengers in an MSF vehicle, ensuring its technical and safety conditions, and respecting the country’s traffic rules and MSF security rules, in order to provide a safe, smooth, and efficient service.

  • Safely operate assigned MSF vehicles in compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of MSF vehicles (monitoring the service mileage), including regular inspections and reporting of any defects or issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, such as wearing seat belts and observing speed limits. 
  • Pay keen attention to the dashboard warning lights.

Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers or cargo during transit, including securing loads and assisting passengers with boarding and disembarking.

Maintain open communication with dispatchers (Radio Operators), supervisors, and other team members to provide updates on vehicle status, route progress, and any incidents or delays.

  • Report accidents, incidents, near misses, or violations promptly and accurately, following established reporting procedures.
  • Adhere to MSF policies and procedures, including those related to vehicle use, safety, and code of conduct. 
  • ECO-driving practices such as idling, use of AC when necessary, harsh acceleration, and brakes.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations governing transportation and vehicle operations, including licensing, registration, and insurance requirements.
  • Represent MSF positively demonstrating professionalism and integrity at all times to both the staff, the public and respect for other road users.

Maintain knowledge of emergency routes, procedures, and communication protocols to ensure safety and well-being of passengers and oneself.

  • Participate in regular training and drills to enhance preparedness for emergency situation and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

Essential literacy and driving license.

Good knowledge of country roads

Experience;

  • Essential 2 years minimum of previous driving experience
  • Desirable experience with specific vehicles to use (4×4, boats, motorbikes, etc.)
  • Desirable in MSF or other NGOs

Languages;

  • English language

Knowledge;

Desirable knowledge of basic mechanics

Good knowledge of mission area roads
