  • ABUJA, NIGERIA - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially commenced a high-level Training-of-Trainers (ToT) workshop at The Electoral Institute (TEI).
  • This initiative is a critical preparatory step ahead of the Nationwide Voter Revalidation Exercise, which is scheduled to begin on April 13, 2026, and directly supports Nigeria’s readiness for the 2027 elections as detailed by INEC updates.

Strategic Importance for 2027

During the workshop held on Monday, March 30, 2026, Professor Kunle Ajayi, Chairman of the Board of The Electoral Institute, emphasized that a credible voter register is the bedrock of any transparent election.

  • Notably, INEC Nigeria’s new updates on their 2027 elections strategy include ensuring the integrity of the register, which is vital for the success of the General Election.

Operational Scope and Objectives

The ToT program is designed to equip Master Trainers and specialized staff from the Voter Registry and ICT Departments with the technical competence required for a massive cascade training.

These trainers will eventually prepare thousands of Registration Officials who will operate across all parts of Nigeria—just one aspect of INEC updates for the 2027 elections.

  • 774 INEC Local Government Offices.
  • 8,809 Registration Areas (RAs).
  • 176,846 Polling Units (PUs) nationwide.
