Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) Nigeria is currently recruiting two experienced consultants to support Nigeria’s polio eradication efforts. 

  • These consultants will be embedded within the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) in Abuja, playing critical roles in strengthening coordination, surveillance, and accountability across high-priority states.

The positions fall under the Polio Technical Assistance Program, a focused initiative aimed at interrupting circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2 (cVDPV2) transmission in key states, including:

  • Borno State, Kaduna State, Kano State, Katsina State, Kebbi State, Sokoto State, Bauchi State, and Zamfara State.

Open Positions

National Program Management and Accountability Consultant

  • In this role, the consultant will provide strategic oversight for program tracking, coordination, and accountability systems within the NEOC. 
  • The position is designed for a strong generalist with proven program management capabilities rather than deep technical expertise in polio. 
  • Candidates are expected to bring at least three years of experience in management consulting, along with demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder programs and drive performance improvements.

National Data and Surveillance Expert

This position focuses on strengthening surveillance systems and enhancing data-driven decision-making. 

  • The consultant will be responsible for improving data quality, developing performance dashboards, and triangulating multiple campaign datasets to generate actionable insights. 

Education

  • Applicants should have a minimum of seven years of experience in public health surveillance and data management, with prior engagement in NEOC, 
  • National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), or Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI)-supported programs.

Engagement Details

Both roles are structured as full-time consultancy engagements, requiring availability for 15 working days per month. 

  • The contracts will run for an initial duration of six months and may be renewed based on performance and program needs. 
  • The positions are based in Abuja, with periodic travel to the listed priority states.
