Malaria Consortium (MC) established in 2003, is one of the world’s leading non-profit organizations dedicated to the comprehensive control of malaria and other communicable diseases in Africa and Southeast Asia.

MC works with communities, government and non-government agencies, academic institutions, and local and international organizations, to ensure good evidence supports delivery of effective services, providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation of programmes and activities for evidence-based decision-making and strategic planning.

  • The organization works to improve not only the health of the individual, but also the capacity of National health systems, which helps to relieve poverty and support improved economic prosperity.
  • Since 2008, MC has been supporting Nigeria in her malaria control/eradication efforts through preventive and curative/case management strategies, while supporting implementation at the health facility and community levels.
  • MC has been involved in mass campaigns of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs)/insecticide treated nets (ITNs) and seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) using Sulphadoxine Pyrimethamine + Amodiaquine (SPAQ).
  • Furthermore, MC has also been supporting Nigeria in the areas of integrated community case management (iCCM), moving into community health influencers, promoters and services programme (CHIPS) and nutrition and in nutrition projects.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: LGA Technical Assistant

Location: Kogi

Purpose of the assignment

The purpose of this ToR is to engage TA support that will serve as support to the field assistants in high burden LGAs due to the large number of facilities, SMC personnel to ensure proper coverage of households during implementation.

  • The high burden LGAs are 3 LGAs of Bauchi state (Toro, Bauchi and Katagum), 4 LGAs of Borno state (Bayo, Biu, Shani and Hawul) and 2 LGAs of Kogi state (Dekina and Ankpa).

Role:

The role of LGA Technical Assistant is to ensure quality implementation of delivery of SMC services at the community level by HFW/supervisors and CDDs through the timely delivery of SMC commodities and supplies, provision of supportive supervision, on the job capacity building and documentation of program activities.

  • S/he provides supportive supervision and training to the above actors and ensures adherence to SMC administration protocols.
  • He/she interacts with the State Ministry of Health, LGA management team, keeps them updated on the program progress and ensures high-quality SMC implementation in high burden LGAS.

Specific Activities of the TA

Programme Implementation, treatment tracking and management:

Qualifications & Experience

Clinical Officer, Nurse, Social Science, Science, or any other Public Health-related qualification with at least five year’s field experience in SMC implementation.

  • Fluency in English, Hausa/Fulani and/or other local languages is required.
  • Experience working in drug/commodity supply management, M&E and logistics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences including LGA staff, HFW and community leaders.
  • Must be familiar with the use of Survey CTO and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in conducting quality supportive supervision and data use.
