SMACON was born during a four-day hike of the spectacular Afi Mountains Wildlife Sanctuary by our founders in 2016.

  • Although a protected area, not all animals received equal protection at Afi.
  • On the ground conservation efforts focused on megafauna to the exclusion of other species.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Supervise Forest Guardians and Data Technicians in Boki
  • Supervise field-based alternative livelihood teams
  • Conduct supervised field surveys and
  • Collect monitoring and evaluation data
  • Facilitate community engagement and education efforts

Reports to:

  • Programs Managers

Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree in Zoology, Biological Sciences, and other related disciplines
  • Proper business English, punctuation, spelling, and grammatical usage.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Dynamic and able to quickly learn new skills.
  • Must reside in Cross River State, and be ready to spend extensive time in the field (Afi Mountain and Cross River National Park)
