Job Description
- My client is seeking a Regional Sales Manager To lead the commercial, operational, and people turnaround, transforming it into a stable, high-quality, and profitable growth engine.
Job Responsibilities
Regional Turnaround & Strategic Leadership
Diagnose and resolve legacy portfolios, processes, and people issues across the region.
- Develop and execute a 6–12 month regional growth plan aligned with the client's portfolio scaling mandate.
- Rebuild operational discipline, accountability, and execution consistency across Kano and Abuja.
- Ensure field teams operate with territorial discipline, owning their catchment areas, maximizing value within them, and avoiding low-effort, low-yield activity.
- Own and enforce regional KPIs across growth, utilization, repayment, and loss rates.
Customer Acquisition & Market Rebuild
- Reset the acquisition strategy to prioritize merchant quality, utilization readiness, and repayment capacity over volume.
- Drive the team to focus on high-value merchants, identifying, acquiring, and managing them with the discipline they require.
- Lead merchant acquisition through: Direct field sales and territory coverage, Ecosystem and distributor partnerships, Trade association and market leadership engagement
- Ensure all acquisition activity aligns strictly with the client's underwriting standards and vertical focus.
Revenue & Unit Economics Ownership
Drive sustainable revenue growth, not headline loan book inflation.
- Improve utilization rates across qualified merchants.
- Ensure regional growth meets profitability and CAC payback expectations.
- Own and manage the regional budget with clear ROI accountability.
Team Leadership, Capability & Culture Reset
Assess, restructure, and rebuild the North Region Growth team where required.
- Recruit, coach, and retain high-integrity, high-discipline Growth Officers.
- Set clear performance expectations tied to healthy growth outcomes, not raw activity metrics.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, field coaching sessions, and corrective interventions.
- Instill a culture of Portfolio ownership and personal accountability, Data-driven decision-making, Respect for process and risk governance
Compliance, Risk & Fraud Management
Ensure full compliance with Shara policies and regulatory standards.
- Perform IC Level 0 underwriting and AM KYC related tasks
- Enforce zero tolerance for Process shortcuts, Business staging, Fraud, Malpractice and Sharp practices.
- Partner with Risk and Compliance teams to strengthen regional controls.
Portfolio Health & Credit Discipline
Own portfolio quality in the region by ensuring strict adherence to Credit eligibility rules, Limit sizing logic and utilisation readiness.
- Proactively identify early risk signals and intervene before 30 DPD.
- Work closely with Credit Risk and Collections on Delinquency management, Restructuring decisions and Recovery escalations
- Eliminate repeat patterns of poor quality resizes and avoidable defaults.
Reporting & Executive Communication
- Provide clear, honest, and data backed reports on Portfolio performance, Growth quality, Risk trends, Operational bottlenecks
- Escalate issues early with scoped out problem statements and proposed solutions
- Serve as the single point of accountability for West Region outcomes.
Requirements & Qualifications
- You have at least five to eight years of work experience
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years experience in sales, growth, or commercial leadership.
- At least 3 years in a regional or mul
