Senior Software Engineer at Clear Solutions
Clear Solutions, a non-profit working in Nigeria, focuses on reducing the tragically-high number of children dying from diarrhoea (>400,000 under - 5 - year olds globally per year),
working with the primary healthcare system to improve access to, and awareness of, highly cost-effective treatments.
- Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and Zinc could prevent >90% of deaths if all diarrhoea cases were treated.
- Our collaboration with Community Health Workers provides parents of young children with free ORS & Zinc at their home, ready to use whenever a child suffers diarrhoea.
- We seek a Senior Software Engineer with a deep architectural grounding and the implementation experience to make well-informed system design decisions, for scaling-up existing systems and developing new ones.
- We are a fast-moving, high-impact organisation where your work will directly and rapidly enable new program designs and working methods. Your time will be dynamically load-balanced across three streams:
Digital Services for Direct Impact
- Design, build, and evolve technologies deployed directly in our public health programs in Nigeria and beyond, including:
VouScan App & Ecosystem:
- Evolve our live Kotlin/Android application used by community vendors in our Vouchers program.
- This application operates in remote areas and relies on a robust offline-first data architecture with intermittent cloud synchronization.
Cloud Infrastructure:
- Evolve our backend data stack, currently built on Google Cloud SQL, BigQuery, and Preset (Superset).
Program Support Tools:
- Prototype and scale digital tools supporting auxiliary program activities, such as Supervisor Spot-checks on fieldworkers, supply chain handovers, and inventory projections (currently utilizing AppSheet frontends backed by GCP)
Technical implementation for Monitoring & Evaluation
Collaborate with our M&E Lead to build and evolve monitoring tools used in the field.
- Own the "back of house" M&E tooling, cloud data stack, and dashboard metrics.
- Architect bespoke, heavy-lift data pipelines using Python or other suitable languages to process complex datasets, eg. geospatial data as relevant to program planning and evaluation.
Operations & Productivity Tech
- Increase organisational effectiveness and efficiency by automating workflows and enabling new working models (eg. writing lightweight scripts/integrations to streamline financial reporting, evolving internal project management tooling, external web presence, semi-automating CRM outreach).
