Translators at Malaria Consortium (4 State's)
Malaria Consortium is an international, the organization is implementing the GiveWell Supported project in four states in Nigeria.
- Four States have been selected for the campaign including Borno, FCT, Abia & Kogi States LGAs.
- The project has implementation and research components.
- The ITN will be distributed to all segments of the population across all LGAs in each selected state For the demand creation (DC) components, messages and materials will be developed, produced, distributed and aired to motivate the target audiences to adopt and maintain the behaviour for ITN ownership, uses and care.
- The design, review and production of DC material require the task of graphic design, photography, translation of messages, and audio production
Specific Task, Deliverables and Person Specification
Tasks for Translator:
Receive the English versions of the key messages for the print materials, and the scripts for audio messages from FCT-MEP and Malaria Consortium officials
- Translate the content of the print materials from English into Hausa, Pidgin English and Gbagyi.
- Materials include motivational leaflets, message cards for town announcers and community mobilisers, posters and banners.
- Translate the scripts of at least three audio messages from English into Hausa, Pidgin English and Gbagyi.
- Translate the scripts of at least three video jingles/messages from English into Hausa, Pidgin English and Gbagyi.
- Revise the translated print materials and the scripts of the audio messages; based on review comments of FCT-MEP and Malaria Consortium (MC)
Deliverables for Translator:
Six audio jingles finalized in four language versions: English, Hausa, Pidgin English and Gbagyi, and submitted to Malaria Consortium.
- A complete set of final, print-ready communication materials in four language versions English, Hausa, Pidgin English and Gbagyi including motivational leaflets, message cards for town announcers and community mobilisers, posters and banners.
- Finalized broadcast-ready audio recordings in four language versions English, Hausa, Pidgin English and Gbagyi saved in suitable formats for playback on approved audio devices.
- A set of approved campaign photographs selected by FCT-MEP and MC, edited as required, and saved in two sets of flash drives for FCT-MEP and MC.
- Finalized video jingles/messages in four language versions English, Hausa, Pidgin English and Gbagyi revised based on feedback and submitted in broadcast-ready and digital-ready formats to Malaria Consortium.
Person Specifications for Translator
(Three translators: one each for Hausa, Pidgin English and Gbagyi):
- Demonstrated experience translating print, audio and radio campaign materials into local languages, particularly Hausa, Pidgin English and Gbagyi.
- At least a first degree or Higher National Diploma in Language Arts, Mass Communication, Linguistics or a related field, with strong competence in Hausa, Gbagyi or Pidgin English.
- Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in translation, news casting, print communication or audio/radio production in the required language.
- Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail and ability to work effectively under tight timelines.
