The Nigerian Navy has announced its 2026 Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) Batch 39 recruitment exercise for qualified Nigerians seeking enlistment into the Nigerian Navy.

  • The recruitment is open to eligible Nigerian citizens by birth who meet the prescribed age, educational, physical, medical and other requirements.
  • Applicants must also possess a National Identification Number (NIN).
  • The Nigerian Navy has stated that the recruitment process is free of charge and warned applicants not to make payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms claiming to facilitate recruitment.

What Is the Nigerian Navy Batch 39 Recruitment?

The Nigerian Navy Basic Training School recruitment is an enlistment exercise through which qualified Nigerians are selected for basic military training and subsequent service in the Nigerian Navy.

  • For Batch 39, successful applicants will undergo basic military training and, upon successful completion of the training, will be enlisted into the Nigerian Navy as Ordinary Seamen.
  • The recruitment exercise includes applicants with different educational, technical, medical and specialist qualifications. 
  • The Nigerian Navy’s guidelines provide separate requirements for different categories.

Who Can Apply for Nigerian Navy Recruitment 2026?

  • The Batch 39 recruitment is open to applicants who meet the requirements specified by the Nigerian Navy.

Applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens by birth.
  • Possess a National Identification Number (NIN).
  • Meet the required age for their selected category.
  • Meet the minimum height requirement.
  • Be medically, physically and psychologically fit.
  • Have no previous criminal conviction.
  • Possess the educational or professional qualification required for the selected category.
  • Be able to communicate in basic English
  • Meet any additional requirements applicable to their chosen category.

Nigerian Navy Recruitment 2026 Requirements

  • Applicants must possess a National Identification Number (NIN).
  • The NIN is required as part of the recruitment and identity-verification process.

Age Requirements

The applicable age depends on the applicant’s qualification and selected entry category.

Applicants applying with O’Level qualifications are required to be 18 to 22 years old as of 31 December 2026.

The recruitment guidelines also provide separate age requirements for applicants applying with qualifications such as OND and NCE and for specific professional, trade and sporting categories. 

Applicants should therefore check the requirements for their chosen category before applying.
