Job Description for HR Officer
Position: 1 slot
Location: Maiduguri, Borno state Duration: 6 months
Reporting Line: Executive Director
Key Responsibilities Purpose:
The Finance Officer will work with the Executive Director in managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.
- This role supports the financial management of GRACE Initiative programs and operations.
Job Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Record and reconcile all financial transactions in accounting systems.
- Prepare monthly financial reports.
- Regularly Monitor budgets and expenditures across projects.
- Support budget development and forecasting processes.
Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance and maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions.
- Support during internal and external audits with required records and explanations.
- Implement financial controls and risk management procedures.
Payments: Prepare payment request and schedule for payroll, Service providers payments and support with petty cash disbursements and program advance while ensuring timely remittance of PAYE and benefits. Manage petty cash and bank reconciliations.
- Track advances and ensure timely retirements.
Coordination & Support: Liaise with program teams to align financial planning with project activities.
- Provide financial insights to support decision-making, Assist in training staff on financial procedures and donor compliance.
Essential skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in financial management, preferably in the NGO
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and donor financial regulations
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- High level of integrity and attention to details Fluency in English and Hausa
