Job Opportunity: Project Assistant (PxD/AVRR) – Nigeria


The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is currently recruiting qualified candidates for the position of Project Assistant (PxD/AVRR).

  • This role supports migration governance and reintegration programmes across multiple locations in Nigeria.

Role Overview

The Project Assistant will support the implementation of Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) activities.

  • The role focuses on helping returned migrants reintegrate sustainably by improving their economic stability, social inclusion, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Working under the supervision of project officers, the successful candidate will contribute to programme delivery, monitoring, and coordination with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Support day-to-day implementation of reintegration projects using rights-based approaches

  • Assist in documentation, screening, and monitoring of beneficiaries
  • Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders
  • Facilitate distribution of travel allowances and reintegration grants
  • Conduct field visits to monitor beneficiary progress and business activities
  • Maintain and update beneficiary data in systems like MiMOSA
  • Prepare periodic reports and support data analysis for programme improvement
  • Assist in capacity-building efforts for local partners and institutions

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, Economics, or related field with 2 years’ experience, OR

  • High school diploma with 4 years’ relevant experience
  • Experience working with migrants, reintegration programmes, or humanitarian settings
  • Strong understanding of migration and social development issues

Skills Required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Strong communication (written and oral)
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Experience in partnership building and stakeholder engagement

Languages

  • Fluency in English (required)
  • Knowledge of Hausa is an added advantage
