A major opportunity has opened for qualified professionals to contribute to Nigeria’s nutrition and public health sector through multiple openings for LGA and State Facilitators (Nutrition) across several states.
- These roles are part of a large-scale initiative supporting UNICEF’s Nutrition Programme, aimed at improving maternal, infant, and young child nutrition outcomes across the country.
Programme Overview
The UNICEF Nutrition Programme focuses on delivering high-quality preventive and treatment services at scale, particularly during the critical first 1000 days of life.
- The initiative aligns with UNICEF Nigeria’s Country Programme Strategy (2023–2027), which prioritizes strengthening the enabling environment, improving system capacity, and promoting positive nutrition-related behaviors.
- Working in collaboration with federal and state governments, as well as development partners, the programme aims to address malnutrition challenges through policy development, service delivery improvements, and community engagement.
- Despite significant progress, gaps remain in coverage, particularly in underserved and hard-to-reach communities, necessitating additional skilled personnel to support implementation and monitoring.
The positions are available in multiple states including:
- Zamfara, Yobe, Sokoto, Oyo, Niger, Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Gombe, Enugu, Cross River, Borno, Benue, Bauchi, Adamawa, and the Federal Capital Territory.
Role Summary
The LGA and State Facilitators will provide technical and operational support for the delivery of nutrition programmes at the grassroots level.
- They will work closely with UNICEF field offices, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective programme execution, monitoring, and reporting.
Requirements
Candidates must possess a first degree in food and nutrition, public health, or a related field.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in nutrition or public health programme management is required.
- Applicants must also be computer literate and fluent in English, with knowledge of local languages considered an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitators will support programme development and planning by assisting in the creation of state and LGA work plans, micro plans, and operational strategies aligned with UNICEF and government priorities.
- They will also contribute to coordination efforts by participating in stakeholder meetings and supporting multi-sectoral collaboration.
