Education Volunteers at The EME Foundation
EME Foundation is a youth-led non governmental organization that focuses on equipping marginalized populations and underserved communities to curb the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences (ACE) through an inclusive educational model.
Please Note:
Volunteers are expected to be available two days per month on-site for physical activities and to participate in weekly online activities.
- We do not offer volunteering opportunities that are exclusively online or only on weekends.
- All volunteer commitments require some weekday and weekend onsite participation.
- As much as we would like to, volunteering with The EME Foundation is unpaid, and no monetary compensation or transport allowances are provided.
- To maintain uniformity and ensure all volunteers are properly identified during official duties, accepted volunteers are required to purchase The EME Foundation's official membership T-shirt.
Benefits:
The cost is ₦7,000 for volunteers in Abuja and ₦6,000 for all other locations.
- Payment is only required after a successful application, and flexible installment plans are available.
Key Responsibilities
Education Volunteers deliver menstrual health education across schools and communities.
- This role involves engaging with children, adolescents, and parents to share accurate information, challenge period stigma and promote menstrual equity.
They:
Teach menstrual health education in an underserved school.
- Facilitate menstrual health education sessions in schools and communities, including getting program approvals from education boards and communities.
- Use engaging and age-appropriate materials to teach menstrual health topics to parents, young boys, and young girls.
- Address myths, misconceptions, and stigma surrounding menstruation.
- Assist in distributing menstrual products and educational materials.
- Support monitoring and evaluation by gathering feedback from participants through surveys, interviews and questionnaires.
- Participate in fundraising efforts every quarter by reaching out to friends and family to donate towards the Foundation’s initiatives.
Who Can Apply
Individuals who are passionate about menstrual health, education, and equity;
- Confident communicators comfortable engaging children, adolescents, and parents;
- Reliable and able to meet their location’s time commitments;
- Fluent in English; with facilitation or teaching experience as an advantage but not a requirement.
