About the Role
ABEP Learning Facilitators will work with the project team to provide quality teaching and effective classroom management at designated Alternative Basic Education Programme ABEP learning centres.
- The successful volunteers will support learners to understand their subjects, maintain appropriate records and contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and child-friendly learning environment.
Responsibilities
Support and guide learners to understand the subjects being taught.
- Deliver lessons in line with the ABEP curriculum.
- Keep accurate records of learners’ performance.
- Record learners’ attendance during every contact day.
- Support the identification and enrolment of target children within the community for the ABEP programme.
- Support back-to-school campaigns and community awareness activities.
- Support the mobilization of communities and work closely with School-Based Management Committees SBMCs and Community Coalitions CCs.
- Provide accessible and protective education services at the ABEP learning centre.
- Ensure targeted children and adolescent boys and girls within the ABEP age range have access to relevant and quality basic education opportunities.
- Keep all learner documentation accurate, updated and secure.
- Compile learner information accurately and on time to support assessment of progress against activities and expected outcomes.
- Compile and report learner data as required.
- Maintain a safe, friendly and supportive atmosphere within the learning centre.
- Promote the inclusion of all children, regardless of gender or ability, in learning activities.
- Ensure teaching and learning materials, equipment and play materials are properly used, inventoried and safely stored.
- Report progress, challenges and relevant issues to the project team.
Qualification & Requirements
Applicants should:
- Be above 18 years of age.
- Have a minimum of NCE.
- Be a resident of the LGA where they will work.
- Have knowledge of community mobilization processes.
- Be able to read and write in English.
- Be able to speak the local language of the area where they wish to work.
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be a respected and accepted member of the local community.
- Have no record of child abuse.
- Have a valid government-issued identification card.
- Nomination and endorsement by the LGA or community will be an added advantage.
