Role Overview

The Assistant Manager, Laboratory and Diagnostics will provide laboratory management support to ensure accurate medical diagnoses and high-quality patient care.

  • The successful candidate will supervise laboratory scientists and technicians, support accreditation processes, strengthen quality systems, manage laboratory information systems and contribute to the expansion of laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities

Analyse laboratory operations and identify opportunities for service expansion and business growth.

  • Manage External Quality Assurance programmes subscribed to by EHA Clinics.
  • Develop and implement a Quality Management System, SOPs and policies aligned with ISO 15189 accreditation requirements.
  • Set up and maintain the Laboratory Information Management System for specimen tracking, results entry and reporting.
  • Support customer acquisition, market penetration, customer engagement and revenue growth.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and offboarding of laboratory personnel.
  • Investigate non-conformities and patient complaints and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Liaise with software teams to maintain laboratory interfaces and LIMS-related systems.
  • Manage procurement of laboratory tests and consumables, vendor information, quotations and inventory.
  • Maintain quality laboratory results through standards, controls, equipment maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting.
  • Draft, review and enforce laboratory SOPs.
  • Review laboratory logs and registers to ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Prepare laboratory performance and quality reports for management review.
  • Maintain professional licensing and comply with relevant regulatory and continuing professional development requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants should have: Rent Lab Equipment

A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Laboratory Science from an accredited university.

  • 5–7 years of supervisory experience in a medical laboratory, clinic or hospital setting.
  • Training and experience in molecular diagnostic techniques such as PCR.
  • Certification from the Associate of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (AMLSCN).
  • A current practising licence.
  • Relevant additional certifications will be an added advantage.
