The Alliance for International Medical Action (ALIMA) is an international medical organization, founded in 2009. 

  • ALIMA’s aim is to provide a high standard of healthcare in situations of emergency or medical disaster and to improve the practice of humanitarian medicine by developing innovative projects associated with medical research.

Mission And Main Activities 

The WASH Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision, coordination, and quality implementation of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) activities in ALIMA supported health facilities. 

The role ensures that all WASH interventions are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with ALIMA standards, national regulations, and donor requirements, contributing to improved public health outcomes and disease prevention.

  • To contribute to ALIMA Yobe curative intervention to prevent the patient from being infected with other patient’s disease while in ALIMA health facilities as well as health workers, a relative of patients, visitors through water treatment - chlorination.
  • Ensure that water is properly treated as per standards requirement of chlorination at the source of water, and different water pitching in all ALIMA health facilities as well in residential premises.   

Accountabilities

Planning & Implementation

Support the WASH Manager in planning and implementing WASH activities according to approved project proposals and work plans.

  • Organize daily and weekly field activities and assign tasks to WASH teams.
  • Ensure timely execution of WASH activities in health facilities and communities.
  • Monitor implementation progress and report any delays or challenges.

Waste Management 

Responsible to ensure that all Waste is segregated as per ALIMA standards

  • Insure that the waste management activity in health facilities & OTP sites is managed to the expected standards
  • Insure that all health centre’s & OTP sites waste is disposed regularly 
  • Burning or preferably incineration of soft waste at health facilities
  • Responsible to the Management of the medical waste categories-sharps, organic waste, hazardous waste, soft waste etc
  • Responsible to the management of the laundry & washing area in hospitals & PHCC 
  • Responsible for an effective hygiene & sanitation process implementation in health facilities in collaboration with the MOH concerned staff
  •  Insure that all ITFC wards & other areas 
  • Insure there is a regular supply of hygiene & sanitation materials for the cleaning of wards at the health centres 

Insure that there are adequate number of Water points in relevant locations at the health centre
