The Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems has officially opened applications for the 2026 Lagos Agripreneurship Programme (LAP), inviting young Nigerians to gain practical skills and opportunities within the agricultural sector.
- The programme is a key initiative under the state’s development agenda, focused on capacity building, job creation, and strengthening food security.
- It is designed to equip participants with modern agricultural knowledge through a structured combination of training, internship, and mentorship.
Programme structure
The programme offers two distinct training pathways.
- The first is a one-month intensive training at the Agricultural Training Institute in Araga, Epe, covering areas such as poultry, piggery, aquaculture, vegetable value chains, e-agriculture, and agribusiness.
After completing the training, participants will move into a three-month internship and mentorship phase with selected commercial farms aligned with their chosen value chains.
- The second option is a ten-day training at the Farm Service and Entrepreneurial Centre in Oko-Oba, Agege.
- This track focuses on poultry, aquaculture, snail farming, vegetable production, and urban agriculture.
- Participants who successfully complete both phases of this track will proceed to enterprise activation.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must be interested in agriculture and willing to commit to the programme’s training and internship phases.
- Candidates are required to provide a valid LASRRA card and relevant academic credentials during the application process.
- Applicants must also carefully complete all required details in the application form, as incomplete submissions will not be considered.
- Applicants must upload key documents, including their LASRRA card and academic credentials. It is recommended that these documents be prepared in advance for easy upload.
- Shortlisted candidates will be notified via SMS and invited to participate in an online aptitude test scheduled at different times during the selection period.
- This programme offers a practical entry point into agriculture for young people ready to build sustainable careers and businesses in the sector.
Benefits of the program
Participants will receive hands-on training in modern agricultural practices and gain exposure to real business environments through internships with commercial farms.
- The programme also provides financial support, including a transport stipend of ₦15,000 upon completion of the training phase.
- During the three-month internship and mentorship phase, participants will receive a monthly stipend of ₦20,000.
- Beyond financial support, participants benefit from mentorship, industry exposure, and the opportunity to launch their own agricultural ventures through enterprise activation.
