Project Overview

Terms of Reference (TOR) for State-Level Team (Kano State Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Project):

  • SANHDEF has been engaged by the Gates Foundation (GF) to implement a three (3) year Health System Strengthening (HSS) Project in Kano State.
  • The project will support the State in developing realistic plans to optimize its health systems, improve health outcomes, and build a more resilient healthcare infrastructure capable of meeting the needs of its growing population.
  • We are seeking highly motivated and skilled professionals to join our State-level team in various critical roles.

Job Summary

The Logistics Officer/Driver will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable movement of project personnel and assets within Kano State.

  • This position will also provide essential administrative and logistical support to the project team, ensuring field activities are well-coordinated, and office supplies and inventory are well-managed.

Key Responsibilities

Drive project staff and assets to all designated locations, including remote LGAs and PHC facilities in Kano State.

  • Conduct daily pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, report maintenance needs, and oversee routine servicing.
  • Accurately maintain all vehicle documentation, including trip logbooks, mileage, and fuel consumption records.
  • Provide hands-on logistical support for project field activities, including preparing, transporting, and setting up training materials and equipment.
  • Perform critical official errands, such as delivering and picking up sensitive documents and materials from government offices and partners.
  • Support minor local procurement processes, including obtaining quotes and delivering purchases.

Support the Admin team with managing and tracking project inventory, supplies, and minor assets

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of a Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSCE). A valid Nigerian commercial or professional driver’s license is mandatory.

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an international NGO, donor-funded project, or reputable organization.
  • Proven experience driving on challenging roads, particularly within Kano State LGAs.
  • Demonstrated experience in a logistics, administrative, or field support role is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle mechanics for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Basic proficiency in written and spoken English and a high level of fluency in Hausa is essential.
