Job Title: Strategy & Impact Analyst

Position Overview
At Lafiya, evidence-driven decision-making is key to how we operate.
We are looking for a research-minded generalist to support the analytical work behind our strategic and programmatic decisions, housed within the Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) department.
Cost-effectiveness modelling is one part of the role, but your mandate is broader:
- Making sure that when Lafiya faces a decision, the right evidence has already been gathered and modelled to inform it, drawing on our own data as well as the wider evidence base for existing SRHR and global health interventions.
Some of this work will be fast, prepared within days to support an urgent decision.
- Some of it will be slower and more rigorous, built to provide transparency and accountability to external evaluators and funders.
- You’ll draw on evaluation findings and routine programme data produced by our MEL department as key inputs to your models, and your cost-effectiveness framing will in turn help sharpen what questions our evaluations should answer.
- On joining, you’ll spend an extended period seeing the programme and team in action in Nigeria (typically ~4 weeks, though we’re flexible to accommodate different backgrounds).
- This time is meant to give you a deep understanding of how the intervention actually functions: shadowing Lafiya Sisters, seeing how contraception moves through our supply chain, and meeting the MEL and programme teams whose data and decisions you will be working with.
- The goal is for you to leave that period with a feel for where our numbers come from and what they miss.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, or a related field.
- Past experience building cost-effectiveness or decision-analysis models, whether in an EA-aligned research organisation, consulting, or a similar quantitative analyst role.
- Or a demonstrated track record of independent cost-effectiveness or decision-relevant analysis that shows you can reason rigorously about impact.
- Open to a range of experience levels from early-career candidates with a strong demonstrated analytical track record to those with several years in consulting or a similar quantitative role.
- We care more about the quality of your reasoning than your title.
- An interest and experience in global health or international development is a plus.
Skills & Competencies:
Professional fluency in English is mandatory.
- Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including building and auditing complex models, is mandatory.
- Familiarity with R or Python, useful for analysis that goes beyond what a spreadsheet can handle well, is a plus.
- Clear written communication, able to produce analysis that is both rigorous and accessible to non-technical stakeholders.
- Able to critically read and synthesise external cost-effectiveness or academic literature and assess its relevance to Lafiya’s decisions
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stay organised in a fast-moving environment.
