Role Overview
The organization is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Data Collector Officer to support field operations across Lagos.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection, recording, and verification of high-quality data from various field sources.
- As a foundational member of the data acquisition team, the officer will ensure that the organization’s decision-making process is backed by accurate and integral information.
This role requires a professional capable of engaging effectively with a wide range of stakeholders within the Lagos metropolis.
Key Responsibilities
Field Data Acquisition: Conducts primary data collection through various methodologies, including structured surveys, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs).
- Digital Documentation: Utilizes mobile data collection tools to accurately record, upload, and synchronize field data with central databases in real-time.
- Quality Assurance: Verifies and cross-checks all data entries against source documents to maintain 100% data integrity and completeness.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Acts as an organizational brand ambassador by interacting respectfully with community members, health workers, and business owners to facilitate high participation rates.
- Reporting: Submits comprehensive daily activity reports and promptly escalates field challenges or data anomalies to the designated supervisor.
Ethical Compliance: Adheres strictly to established ethical standards, including obtaining informed consent and maintaining absolute participant confidentiality.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Minimum of an OND, HND, or Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Public Health, Petroleum Engineering, Estate Management, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on experience in field-based data collection or research.
- Technical Proficiency: Proven ability to operate digital collection platforms such as Toolbox, ODK, or SurveyCTO.
- Linguistic Skills: Fluency in English and Yoruba (or Pidgin) is essential for effective navigation of diverse Lagos communities.
Geographic Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the geography and community dynamics of Lagos State is highly preferred.
