Position Summary

The Safety & Security Manager (SSM) leads all security systems in Nigeria, with a primary focus on humanitarian operations in the Northeast.

The role involves:

  • Advising senior leadership on security matters
  • Developing and implementing security policies and procedures
  • Supporting program teams to integrate security into operations
  • Training and mentoring field security staff
  • Coordinating with global teams and external stakeholders (UNDSS, NGOs, embassies)

Key Responsibilities

  • Security Information & Analysis
  • Monitor the security environment, especially in Northeast Nigeria
  • Produce analytical reports and weekly security briefs
  • Provide real-time advice to leadership and field teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • 3–5 years of field experience in safety and security (NGO/humanitarian context)
  • Experience designing and managing security systems
  • Strong understanding of complex emergencies
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and within diverse teams
  • Experience in Northeast Nigeria is an advantage
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
