Data Collectors for Nationwide Research Study
A nationwide research initiative is currently seeking qualified and experienced individuals to serve as Data Collectors for a major study titled “Citizen Mobilisation and Alternative Pressure Mechanisms in Political Action.”
- This study is designed to generate credible, context-driven insights into how citizens actively participate in civic and political processes beyond elections, influence governance, and promote accountability through alternative mechanisms.
- The research will be conducted across all 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) using a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative surveys, Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and case study documentation.
- To ensure the success of this large-scale project, selected Data Collectors will play a critical role in gathering accurate, reliable, and high-quality field data.
- Each state will engage two (2) Data Collectors, who will be responsible for collecting data across both urban and rural communities within their assigned locations.
Role Overview
The Data Collectors will be responsible for implementing field-level data collection activities in line with the study’s methodology and ethical standards.
- They will work closely with supervisors and project coordinators to ensure that all data collected is complete, accurate, and submitted within the required timelines.
- This role is ideal for individuals with prior experience in research, surveys, and community engagement, especially those familiar with digital data collection tools and fieldwork environments.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
Possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Demonstrate good proficiency in local languages within their assigned state
- Have prior experience in data collection using tools such as Kobo Collect and Google Forms
- Be available to attend a mandatory training session on Saturday, 16th May 2026
- Be available for 10 days of fieldwork from 18th to 30th May 2026
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured guidelines
Added Advantage:
- Certification in data collection or research ethics, particularly the UNICEF Agora Primary Data Collection Course
Scope of Work
Selected Data Collectors will be expected to carry out the following tasks:
Participate in a compulsory orientation and training session covering study objectives, tools, methodology, and ethical standards
- Administer structured questionnaires and conduct interviews in assigned communities
- Accurately capture and upload responses using approved data collection platforms
- Ensure all collected data is complete, clean, and properly verified before submission
- Maintain strict adherence to research ethics, including informed consent, confidentiality, neutrality, and professionalism
- Promptly report field challenges, observations, and emerging issues to supervisors
- Engage effectively with respondents and community stakeholders
Individual Deliverables
Each Data Collector will be required to meet the following deliverables:
- Attend the mandatory pre-field training session
- Submit five (5) pilot survey entries before full deployment
- Participate in daily review and debrief sessions
- Complete a minimum of 200 survey interviews within the project timeline
- Provide daily field reflections or observation notes
- Capture and share at least two (2) field photographs daily
- Ensure timely submission of all assigned tasks and datasets
