Be The Help Foundation ("BHF" or the "Foundation") started an argroforestry project in 2019 (located in Kwali, Abuja) to develop a hands on training center for agroforestry and rural development in order to prove the economic and environmental sustainability of agroforestry in Nigeria.
- BHF collaborates with SCL Nigeria and the five (5) neighbouring villages
- Our ideal candidate for the position of Data and IT Officer is expected to manage BHF organization’s ICT infrastructure and data systems, ensuring the availability, security, accuracy and confidentiality of information.
- The Successful candidate should provide technical support to staff, maintain computer hardware and software, administer networks, troubleshoot ICT-related issues and support digital transformation initiatives
Organization:
- An NGO with a mission in agroforestry.
Location:
BHF Agroforestry Centre, Dama-kusa village, Kwali Area Council, FCT
- This role requires the incumbent to work on ‘on site’
- The role reports to Research and Development Manager, with CEO Always in copy
Responsibilities:
Information Technology Management
Maintain and troubleshoot farm IT infrastructure including computers, networks, and software systems.
- Ensure data security, backups, and compliance with organizational IT policies.
- Support staff with IT-related needs and provide training on digital tools.
Data Collection & Analysis
- Design and implement systems for collecting field data on crops, trees, livestock, and environmental indicators.
- Use digital tools (GIS, farm management software, spreadsheets, databases) to store and process data.
- Analyze data to generate insights on productivity, sustainability, and resource use.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare regular reports on farm performance, resource utilization, and environmental impact.
- Provide dashboards and visualizations to support management decision-making.
- Ensure accurate documentation of agroforestry practices and outcomes.
Innovation & Digital Transformation
- Introduce new technologies (e.g., mobile apps, sensors, drones, GIS mapping) to improve farm monitoring.
- Support digital record-keeping for compliance with sustainability standards and certifications.
- Collaborate with external partners on data-sharing and research initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- Bsc in ICT, Computer Science, Data Science or Related Field with relevant experience and background in IT Infrastructure and Data Management.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in ICT, Data Management or Agricultural Technology
Availability:
Successful candidate would be expected to resume immediately after end of the hiring process.
